For the purposes of UK data protection law, IHM is generally the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:
We collect information directly from you when you subscribe to a newsletter, contact us, submit a website form, register for or attend an event or webinar, buy a ticket, enter an award, download content or apply for an internship or role.
We may also receive professional information from your employer or organisation, event partners, publicly available business sources, company websites, press releases, professional networking platforms and industry directories where it is lawful and appropriate to do so.
We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis.
We use information to answer enquiries, administer bookings and registrations, process event participation, provide requested content or services and fulfil advertising, sponsorship, research or other commercial arrangements. Our lawful basis may be performance of a contract, taking steps before entering into a contract, legitimate interests or a legal obligation.
We use subscriber information to send the IHM newsletters and updates you have requested. Where consent is required, we rely on your consent. In appropriate business-to-business circumstances, we may rely on legitimate interests where permitted by applicable electronic marketing and data protection law. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.
Choosing to submit an event registration, partnership enquiry or internship application does not by itself mean that you have agreed to receive IHM marketing. Where a form includes an optional newsletter checkbox, that is treated as a separate choice.
We use professional contact and enquiry information to manage relationships with customers, prospects, sponsors, partners and other industry contacts, follow up relevant business enquiries and maintain appropriate records of our interactions. We generally rely on our legitimate interests in operating and developing our B2B media and events business, balanced against the rights and expectations of the people concerned.
As a specialist media publisher, IHM processes professional information for editorial, journalistic and publishing purposes. This can include receiving press information, maintaining industry contacts, arranging interviews and reporting on organisations, individuals and developments relevant to our audiences. Applicable data protection law contains specific provisions relating to journalism, freedom of expression and publication in the public interest.
